It’s time to think differently about cloud infrastructure solutions. This vendor spotlight features two experts from Cisco—Jim Leach, senior product manager, Unified Computing System; and Jason Schroedl, marketing lead, Unified Management—explaining why infrastructure matters in the cloud. The company’s platform for cloud and server products powered by the Intel® Xeon® processor E5 family is enabling a faster, simpler, more flexible, and cost-effective cloud.

The Cisco* Unified Data Center is an ideal platform for virtualized and cloud environments, providing an agile infrastructure to scale with business demand. At the core of the Unified Data Center is Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS), which combines fabric, management, and computing for a unified solution. Instead of delivering a conglomeration of many capabilities, UCS uses its infrastructure systems as a single system in a holistic approach that delivers maximum flexibility—and offers a fresh approach to cloud infrastructure. According to the experts, the Unified Data Center platform is designed to enable you to “deliver your IT services faster and in a more agile way to your business users.”

Because of Cisco’s close working relationship with Intel, Cisco launched its third generation of fabric computing innovations, including the Cisco M3 server products, at the same time as the Intel Xeon processor E5 family.
